BUILDER CHALLENGE
The project required a staircase that could efficiently connect multiple levels while fitting within a limited floor plan. The goal was to maintain an open, modern aesthetic without making the space feel confined, all while providing a durable staircase suitable for everyday living.
OUR SOLUTION
Iron Timbers designed a custom switchback monostringer staircase featuring 3.5-inch thick hardwood treads and a clean vertical steel railing system. By incorporating intermediate landings and open risers, the staircase provides comfortable circulation between levels while preserving natural light and visual openness. The combination of black steel and warm hardwood creates a timeless architectural feature that complements the contemporary interior.
